Gratitude journal prompts

Gratitude journalling works best when it's specific. 'My family' is true but it doesn't take you anywhere; 'the way my sister rang just to tell me about her terrible date' does. These prompts are built to get you to the specific thing.

  1. 1What made me smile today, however small?
  2. 2Who did something kind for me this week? What exactly did they do?
  3. 3What's something in my home I'm glad I own?
  4. 4What did my body let me do today?
  5. 5What's a meal I'm grateful for this week?
  6. 6Which friend would I be lost without, and why?
  7. 7What's something I have now that I once wished for?

How to use these

Pick one, set a timer for ten minutes, and write without stopping to correct anything. Don't worry about answering the question exactly — the prompt is only there to get the pen moving. If one doesn't land, skip it. Try the random prompt generator if you can't choose.
